2003-2017 Rolls-Royce & Bentley

Bentley Continental GT, GTC, and Flying Spur

Between 2003 and 2017, Bentley vehicles entered a period of modernized engineering and higher production volumes while maintaining the brand’s reputation for handcrafted luxury. Central to this era were the Bentley Continental GT, the open-top Bentley Continental GTC, and the four-door Bentley Flying Spur. Developed under the ownership of Volkswagen Group and built primarily at Bentley’s historic factory in Bentley Motors Crewe Factory, these models used advanced steel monocoque construction combined with sophisticated all-wheel-drive systems and electronically controlled suspension to deliver both high performance and refined ride quality. A defining feature of their build was the powerful twin-turbocharged W12 engine, which provided exceptional torque and smooth power delivery suited to grand touring.

Despite the adoption of modern manufacturing techniques and shared engineering resources within the Volkswagen Group, Bentley retained extensive hand-craftsmanship in the interior assembly process, including hand-stitched leather upholstery, mirror-matched wood veneers, and carefully machined metal trim. Each vehicle required significant manual finishing and quality inspection, ensuring that while production volumes increased compared with earlier Bentleys, the brand’s emphasis on luxury materials, structural integrity, and meticulous build quality remained central to the vehicles produced during this period.
